Description

Established in 2004, this children’s home provides long-term care and support to 13 children, ranging from toddlers to young adults up to 20 years old. While the children are not orphans, they have been formally adopted by the founder of the home due to their biological parents’ inability to provide care primarily stemming from socioeconomic challenges and personal circumstances.

Beyond offering a stable and nurturing living environment, the foundation is committed to fostering the children’s personal, educational, and emotional development, thereby opening pathways to a more promising future. The home welcomes volunteers who are willing to make a meaningful contribution through various forms of support—whether in daily household tasks, childcare, educational assistance, or activities aligned with their academic background, professional expertise, or personal skills.

Program Benefits for Social Work, Psychology, and Education Students

  • Applied Field Experience
This program offers an opportunity to engage in real-world social care work, supporting children’s emotional and educational development within a long-term residential setting. Participants will gain valuable insight into community-based child welfare practices in Indonesia.

  • Academic Integration and Mentorship
Volunteers pursuing studies in social work, psychology, early childhood development, or education will benefit from close guidance by a social worker mentor. This mentorship supports reflective practice, cultural sensitivity, and the development of core professional competencies. Academic credit transfer is supported with documentation upon request.

  • Intercultural Competence and Ethical Practice
By living and working within a culturally specific care environment, students will deepen their understanding of ethical issues in international social work, including family dynamics, child protection, and community-based responses to poverty and exclusion.

  • Holistic Child Development Insight
Through hands-on involvement in daily care routines, educational activities, and informal interactions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how emotional stability, structured environments, and consistent adult support influence child and adolescent development.

  • Professional Preparation and Reflection
This program encourages critical reflection on one’s role as a support worker, intercultural practitioner, and advocate. It lays the foundation for a more grounded and empathetic approach to future professional practice in social and community services.

Program Benefits for Senior Volunteers

  • Meaningful Social Engagement
Your life experience, patience, and emotional presence offer an invaluable source of support to children growing up in a care-based environment. Whether through structured activities or simple daily interactions, your presence contributes to a sense of stability and trust.
