Description

Established in 2007 by philanthropist from South Korea, this community-based children’s home was founded with the vision of providing a nurturing second home for underprivileged children many of whom lack access to quality education, extracurricular learning, and essential resources such as English books or structured language courses.

Having lived in Bali for over 20 years, the founder witnessed the growing need for accessible, supportive educational environments for children whose families face significant economic hardship. While some of the boys are orphans, the majority still have families living in rural areas or distant islands across Indonesia who are unable to support their education due to financial constraints.

The center now serves as a safe, stable environment where children are encouraged to grow intellectually and socially, with the help of local staff and dedicated volunteers. Your contribution will help bridge gaps in learning, build confidence, and expand the children’s educational horizons.

Program Benefits for Young Volunteers and Students

  • Applied Learning in Education and Social Work
Gain practical experience in tutoring, lesson planning, and classroom facilitation especially valuable for students studying education, psychology, child development, or social work.

  • Academic Credit and Mentorship Support
This program can support academic objectives such as internships, practicum requirements, or service-learning credits. Volunteers receive supervision from local staff, and we assist with documentation for credit transfer if required by your home institution.

  • Child-Centered Teaching Practice
Enhance your ability to adapt learning methods to suit diverse learning styles and behavioral needs while developing your patience, communication, and emotional intelligence.

  • Cross-Cultural Competency
Work closely with children from rural and remote backgrounds across Indonesia, developing an awareness of social inequality, educational access, and resilience in a community context.

  • Creative and Personal Growth
Design and implement engaging activities that combine fun with learning, building your initiative, problem-solving skills, and capacity for leadership in a meaningful setting.

Program Benefits for Senior Volunteers

  • Offer your time and attention in a nurturing setting that deeply values your care, life experience, and steady presence. Your support helps children develop consistency and trust in adult figures.

  • Many children at the home are in need of patient guidance, encouragement, and nonjudgmental mentorship roles senior volunteers are uniquely positioned to fulfill.

  • Flexibility: Activities can be adapted to your pace, comfort level, and strengths—whether focused on tutoring, storytelling, activity planning, or simply being a reliable and calm adult presence.

  • Engage with a multicultural team, learn about Indonesian family dynamics and educational challenges, and reflect on the value of intergenerational service and learning.
