A graduate in International Business from James Cook University, Singapore, Neeraj Choudury was seeking more than just a traditional career path after completing his studies. With hands-on experience managing a boutique hotel in India and a strong interest in marketing and hospitality, he made the decision to step out of his comfort zone and pursue an international internship with a diving company in Bali. Little did he know that it would soon become one of the most rewarding chapters of his life….

"I would say my favorite part of the program would be the people. It's a very friendly work environment."

If someone had told me a year ago that I’d be riding a scooter through Bali’s breezy streets, filming divers and editing marketing content for a world-class dive center, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. But here I am—living that reality thanks to Bali Internships, and it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Exploring Life, Away From Routine

After graduating in International Business from James Cook University, Singapore, I felt the itch to break away from routine and explore life in a more dynamic, fulfilling way. I had previously run a boutique hotel back home in India, but I knew I needed something more—something that aligned with my passion for travel, marketing, and cultural experience. That’s when I discovered Bali Internships.

Smooth Settling In and Exciting Daily Tasks

From the moment I arrived in Bali, I felt welcomed. The team from Bali Internships picked me up at the airport and made sure I was settled in. On my first day at the diving company, I met my mentor and colleagues who instantly made me feel like part of the team. It wasn’t just about work—it was about joining a family.

As a Sales and Marketing Intern, my tasks are as diverse and exciting as the island itself. One of the highlights has been creating a “Day in the Life of a Diver” video. From morning equipment setups to boat rides with clients, I film, edit, and produce content that showcases the heart of diving life in Bali. It’s not just video editing; it’s storytelling with a purpose. Every piece of content I work on is reviewed by my mentor, and while revisions are part of the process, they’ve helped me sharpen both my technical and professional skills.

The work environment is vibrant and collaborative. We work from 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, with shared lunch breaks that feel more like friendly gatherings than formal meals. Sometimes, my boss takes me out for lunch, and evenings are often spent with colleagues exploring nearby bars or relaxing by the beach. The vibe here is unmatched—casual, yet productive. There’s no unnecessary pressure, just a team that supports each other and believes in enjoying life while getting things done. I would say my favorite part of the program would be the people. It's a very friendly work environment.

A CV Game-Changer

Personally, this internship has been a game-changer. It’s helped me transition from theoretical knowledge to real-world application. Professionally, it’s boosted my CV and given me valuable experience in digital marketing, guest relations, and tourism promotion. More importantly, it’s helped me build a network of like-minded people from around the world.

Work-Life Balance In Paradise

Living in Bali is more than just a change of scenery—it’s a lifestyle. In my free time, I run on the beach, hit the gym, or explore the island’s endless list of cafes and restaurants. And trust me, that list just keeps growing! The work-life balance here is something I’d never experienced before—it’s fun, welcoming, and yes, a little hot too!

Would I recommend Bali Internships? 100%. This experience has not only added value to my professional journey but has also helped me grow as a person. For anyone dreaming of a meaningful adventure, Bali is waiting for you—with open arms and turquoise waters.
