Donja's Story: Finding purpose and passion

Driven by my love for sustainability and environmental education, I decided to pursue an internship abroad that would align with my passions. I went online and found this internship program through BalI Internships and my internship began virtually. The prospect of meeting my mentor in person upon arriving in Bali promised to elevate my experience to new heights.  From the moment I set foot on the island, I was enthralled by its vibrant energy and natural beauty, Bali’s welcoming culture, breathtaking beaches, and awe-inspiring sunsets, providing me the perfect backdrop for my journey of self-discovery and professional growth.

One of the aspects I relished most about my internship was the freedom and independence it granted me. It allowed me to contribute my creative vision and opinions, giving me a sense of purpose and agency in my work. I was involved in various areas, including social media marketing, content creation, and picture editing. These practical experiences not only complimented my theoretical university education but also deepened my understanding of the importance of effective communication and visual representation in promoting environmental causes.

Beyond my internship, Bali got me to explore its wonders during weekends. During my free time I would travel around the island to visit the rice fields in Ubud, visit Kuta and ride the waves and take surfing lessons. Each adventure was a testament to the island's diversity and the limitless possibilities it offered. My internship experience in Bali has definitely provided the nurturing environment I needed to grow both personally and professionally, it helped shape my aspirations and fueled my determination to make a lasting impact in the realm of sustainability.

Reflecting upon my time in Bali, I am grateful for the opportunity that Bali Internships and the environmental NGO provided me. I am determined to apply the knowledge and experiences gained during my internship to make meaningful contributions towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.  In conclusion, my internship in Bali has been a remarkable journey that has surpassed all expectations. It has allowed me to merge my passion for sustainability with practical skills, providing a solid foundation for my future endeavors. I will forever cherish the memories of this transformative period and carry its lessons with me as I continue my path towards making a positive difference in the world.

Julian's Story: Collaboration and Trust

My goal was to find an internship that would provide a nurturing environment for my aspirations, and I found just that in a dynamic education-based NGO on the island of Bali.  Overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic, I decided to intern abroad after all of the restrictions the past 2020 and I came across the Bali Internships program catalog which instantly speaks to me.

During my internship, I was offered a diverse range of tasks that allowed me to make a meaningful experience. From creating crowdfunding campaigns to managing Excel sheets, I gained practical skills while contributing to the organization's mission. One of the highlights of my internship was the collaboration with my supervisor, Pter. Our working relationship was characterized by open communication and shared decision-making, fostering a sense of trust.

My day to day internship schedules are balanced between productivity and adventure. During the mornings, we dedicated ourselves to goal-setting discussions with my mentor via video chat, followed by focused work hours. Post-lunch check-ins allowed for progress updates and future planning. As the day drew to a close, I would definitely conclude it in the waves and surf.  Bali’s mesmerizing sunsets on its stunning beaches became the perfect reward for a day of hard work.

Beyond the professional growth, my internship with the NGO, became a catalyst for my personal development. It has opened doors to new perspectives, expanded my horizons, and allowed me to forge lifelong memories.  In conclusion, my internship was a valuable experience where it certainly has provided a platform for me to nurture my passion for social innovation.
