Internship Programs in Bali

Letting my Heart Leads Me to Bali, as a Volunteer in a Wildlife and Nature Conservation Center

“Bali and the people are unforgettable, I have made a lot of friends and never have I seen a place where people are as kind and welcoming”, Oscar, IÉSEG School of Management, Paris, France

Being only 18-years-old, I have a lot to learn about myself and spending the two-months in Bali as a volunteer in a Wildlife and Nature Conservation Center, was one of the best decisions I have ever made in life. It all began when I had to do 8-weeks of humanitarian service for my university. I found out about the center through Bali Internships and felt directly concerned about the safety and longevity of the turtles specifically in Bali. Having been involved in animal and environment preservation, this opportunity was such a calling for me. Though that was my first time being so far away from home, I came to Bali with no worries. Bali Internships helped me with all the papers, and I managed to gain a sense of independence and autonomy, which of course, affects me in my way of finding myself.

My Days as a Volunteer

My first day in the Turtle Conservation project went completely well. The staffs were welcoming and right after the introduction, I got to work immediately and helped guide the visitors. I was lucky enough to join the turtle releasing as well as witnessing turtles laying their eggs on the beach at night on my second day of voluntary work service. After that, I spent most of my days as a volunteer guiding the conservation’s guests and visitors, helping those who wanted to adopt turtles, cleaning the turtles’ tanks, and feeding the turtles. I personally love the human interactions that I had to make with the visitors whom I guided. Because from there, I got to meet lovely individuals that I will never forget. Besides, I also got to improve my German and English speaking skills.

My Experience in Bali

This was honestly one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. I promised the staff and all the turtle conservation members that I will be back one day. Being in Bali has taught me a lot of things, especially breaking through your comfort zone. In a way, for me traveling is the best way to learn and discover new things, people, and culture. I even made a plan of studying in China for 6-months, next year. Balinese people are exceptionally unforgettable! I have made so many friends along my journey in Bali, and never have I seen a place where the people are as kind and welcoming as Balinese.

There are a variety of landscapes, from rice fields to resorts, beaches to mountains, and everything is beautiful. Ubud for me is one of a kind. I personally enjoyed climbing Mount Batur and watched the sunrise as it arose. I also loved spending the weekend in Gili Island. There is no motorized vehicle and the beaches are heavenly. Not to mention, I got to surf for the very first time in my life! and it has become a new passion for me since. I am so thankful for my decision of being here in Bali.
