Julian's Interview
Diving into Marketing: My 5/5 12-Week Internship Experience in Bali
"The best aspects of my internship were the free diving opportunities, my amazing colleagues, and the beautiful location.” Julian, Sports Management and Media, University of Salzburg, Germany
Julian, a 25-year-old master's student from Germany, began a dynamic 12-week internship in marketing and sales in the scenic setting of Sanur, Bali. Studying sports management and media at the University of Salzburg, Julian sought to broaden his global perspective and professional skills outside of Europe. With a background in marketing and TV editing, Julian eagerly joined a prominent diving company, eager to learn and contribute to Bali's vibrant cultural and professional environment. This is his compelling internship story...
Matching My Ideal Internship, Tasks and Responsibilities
The internship exceeded my expectations and aligned with what I envisioned. Despite marketing and sales not being my primary interest, I had a fantastic time working with the team. The company’s flexibility allowed me to explore projects that interested me and were beneficial for my studies. This hands-on approach made my experience even more enriching.
My internship felt like a full-time job, which was perfectly fine with me. I stayed busy with various tasks but always had time for chats with my boss and colleagues, and to enjoy Bali and diving. My main responsibilities included finalizing contracts with travel agencies, website maintenance, creating blog posts, designing t-shirts, assisting with social media, and interacting with customers about their dive trips. The highlight was the freedom to choose projects that aligned with my interests and academic goals. Interning 40 hours a week was exactly what I came to Bali for—a proper internship and work environment. I wouldn’t change a thing about my working hours or responsibilities.
What I Liked Most, Support and Guidance and Learning Opportunities
The best aspects of my internship were the free diving opportunities, my amazing colleagues, and the beautiful location. The team’s warmth and camaraderie made the experience even more enjoyable.
My supervisor, Whan, was incredibly supportive, available almost 24/7 to help me out of any difficult situations. I’m deeply grateful to her and the entire team for their trust and constant support. Although the field of marketing and sales isn’t where I see myself in the future, I learned a lot during my internship. The experience provided me with valuable insights and skills that will undoubtedly benefit me in my career.
The work environment and culture were fantastic. From the first week, my colleagues invited me to lunch, badminton games, and drinks after work. I felt included and comfortable, making my time there truly enjoyable.
Overall Experience: 5/5 and Bali Internships’ support.
From the very first day, I knew I was in for an amazing experience. Although marketing and sales isn’t the field I plan to pursue long-term, I found immense value and enjoyment working with the team. The international workplace environment broadened my horizons and allowed me to learn a lot. I’d rate my overall experience a perfect 5 out of 5.
I was thoroughly satisfied with the support and communication from Bali Internships. Whether it was through email, WhatsApp, or phone, the responses were always quick, friendly, and accurate. The organized gatherings helped me bond with other interns, creating lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. I loved the get-togethers and the sense of community that Bali Internships fostered.
I’ve had the best time and would highly recommend Bali Internships to anyone looking for an internship abroad. The experience was invaluable, and I hope to stay in touch with everyone I met. Perhaps an alumni group could be a great way to reconnect in the future.
Terima kasih, guys, dan sampai jumpa (see you)!
