About the project
Description
Established over 2 decades ago, the foundation was launched with a mission to give back to Bali’s local population by addressing nature conservation, education and healthcare needs. Education has also been a fundamental tenet for the foundation. The goal is to encourage local community awareness and participation in ensuring that the area is safe for indigenous birds to fly freely.
Within schools, they work with children from kindergarten age to senior high school, offering a variety of individual and group activities, with input from the students themselves. The primary school students focus on conservation and the environment, while the older students look at both waste management and endangered wildlife. Tourism vocational high school students focus on ecotourism and sustainable tourism, with the goal to be ready to enter the industry workforce and make a positive impact on the tourism sector. The NGO’s in-school program has now taught over 50 classes, in 25 schools in 6 villages, reaching more than 1,500 students. To keep the program running during the global situation, Bali Internships hope to be able to still send and place volunteers to assist the education program running online. Support the NGO by applying as an English Teaching online volunteer.
